Our Kayaks are made of a wood frame (specifically, yellow cedar, sitka spruce, and oak for maximum strength and minimal weight) and are "skinned" with a high-tech nylon fabric, coated with neoprene and hypolon rubbers. The "skin" covering gives the illusion of being fragile, but it is important to know that these kayaks have proven to be much sturdier than their fiberglass counterparts. Because our tour kayaks are designed with the beginner in mind, they are more stable and comfortable than any other kayaks on the market. For those more experienced we also have intermediate and expert level boats. We custom build both Greenland and Aleutian style kayaks directly to your body size and purpose. Hand Crafted Kayaks WebsiteKayaking is rich in history and tradition. Anthropologists have proven the Aleutian culture to have had highly developed kayaks as early as 3000 BC and estimate their use as far back as 10,000 years ago. The allure emphasis should be placed on the uniqueness and history involved. We offer something that is different, yet still very much a part of the new movement in kayaking. All the skills of paddling, safety, and technique have not been developed by our technology, but only borrowed from our past.
